We build our own vision of the author's world, and grow to like the characters - I recall in the introduction to "The Stand" Stephen King mentioned how people still come up to him and ask how Frannie and Stu are doing. That kind of thing.

Perhaps this is part of the reason for people identifying with characters in the bible, and treating them as "real".

Maybe way back in our past we used to sit around the campfire telling stories of our ancestors (who of course would have existed ) and their exploits. Maybe this kind of identification with characters in stories is part of who we are.

I must admit I've done no research or anything on this, I've just always quietly thought about it, & hoped that someone else would make the argument for me! ;-)

highlander65Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21219785.post-1151408436624220852006-06-27T07:40:00.000-04:002006-06-27T07:40:00.000-04:00The Fabulous Prophecies of the Messiah piece was w...The Fabulous Prophecies of the Messiah piece was written by Jim Lippard, not Jeff Lowder.

http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/jim_lippard/fabulous-prophecies.html
Punkish, Tekton ResearchAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21219785.post-1151377850523973792006-06-26T23:10:00.001-04:002006-06-26T23:10:00.001-04:00Ed, it's been a long time since I read portions of...Ed, it's been a long time since I read portions of Erasmus.
