Loftus Single Handedly Shut Down the Biblioblogger List! ;-)

Well, I did it folks. I bested all but two Bibliobloggers in rankings this month, the other results can be found here. This has caused no small problem for some Bible bloggers, since they just can't stand the fact that a Blog named "Debunking Christianity" outranked nearly all of them. Now some of them are personally attacking me.

Apparently, the list was shut down because of me, one lone secular Bible blogger! ;-) Now they'll attack me because I'm crowing about it. But then there is no bigger rooster than Jim West who crowed about his ranking every single month when he was at the top of the list. If someone starts another list I'll be sure to apply for that one too. Whatever criteria they use to exclude me will exclude others, maybe lots of others, including Jim West himself, if the criteria is changed to say one must have an earned doctorate from a recognized accredited institution! ;-) I didn't mean to cause this much trouble. I just wanted to be included. But it has been fun to see their reaction, that's all. More later...

John, just don't get it do you?

First, the list is fun - or should be. You didn't shut it down. Today is not the end of the month. And congrats on having the rankings that you do. While it may feed your already over inflated ego, seeing the works of one's hands succeed is always pleasing.

Second, my post dealt with your rather vicious attacks on others. It is rather unbecoming of my picture of a scholar.

Oh, and the US ranking has nothing to do with the list rankings - it is your one month average.

For something a bit better than Alexa in determining demographics, you might want to try Quantcast.

J.L. who says I'm not having fun with this. I am. It's just fun for me in the same sense that Jim West has fun. His humor is harsh as you know. Just laugh. As I said, there's more coming later, this time from Dr. Hector Avalos.

Cheers.

More what? Vileness? No thanks, John.

Hi J.L.
I notice that your profile has your industry listed as "government".

and you're a scholar?

How does that work? Why isn't your industry listed as Education or something?

Harlan Quinn said...

congrats John!
ON! ON!

J. L. Watts said...

Nope, not claiming letters of any sort, although I am in the process of attaining a few.

Oh, and yes, there are scholars who work for the Government, Harlan.

What is the criteria to be a scholar? Maybe I'm a scholar too.

J. L. Watts said...

Wow, Harlan, taking things to a level not previously implied. Is it contagious?

If you meant that John was the scholar I'm sorry for my misunderstanding.

I thought your first comment was implying that you were a scholar, which was the viewpoint my questions came from.

sorry if I appeared foolish...

I do think John is a scholar, and have no real problem considering him a bible scholar. I think he misses the most important point of biblical scholarship, but that is more philosophical than empirical. I do, however, think that he attacks and inability to communicate civilly doesn't speak well of him, though.

I can understand anger and loss of faith, doubt, etc... but not the issues that I have seen with him.

I know, how uncivil of him to arrive at different conclusions and then not only articulate his positions but defend them as well. It's positively an attack! We don't stand for that sort of thing in academia, one of the few remaining places where scholars can get together and agree to agree without any dissent whatsoever.

Keep up the fight comrade.

I am ever so subtly amused by the incessant banter. Grown, educated men slyly bantering back and forth with sophist murmurings. Ah, if only the Christians would get over their self-righteous false-humility streak and deal with the arguments and ignore the perceived heart flaws they have with the presenter.

That would be the day!

Yet, sadly, in the mind of a Christian the heart condition of the presenter is all the evidence they need that any argument that speweth from said heart is flawed foundationally.

As such, Christians would accept a murderer if he said things they agreed with and reject a saint if she said things they do not agree with.

The virus runs deep, Holmes... it appears to attack the central nervous system and cause a severe stubbornness and refusal to think critically about ones own internal belief system. As such, one primary reaction is to raise a finger ever so deftly and point it incessantly at ones fellow man.

Watson, there is only one cure: an antidote of data. Data, Watson, we must teach people to consider all data before committing their lives to such foolishness.

If you replaced Christian with Atheist, you might be one to something.

I have no problem admitting as well that as a whole Christians simply don't like to engage atheists. I, on the other hand, have wonderful atheists friends which of course means that I have no problem with them. :)

'Vicious attacks on others'?

This is Christian speak for letting slip where Dr.Jim West got his doctorate.

John you are number one in my book. Great work once again.

No attempt, needed Steve. I usually try to take the high road. It is my quirk.
