David Mills, Author of Atheist Universe, Predicts My Book Will Be "One of The Top Atheist Books Ever Published"!

As seen here he wrote:

From everything I've heard and read about this forthcoming book, it's going to be one of the top atheist books ever published. John Loftus has such a unique background and wit in his writings that I'm literally counting the days until it reaches my home via Amazon. Thank you, John, for your meticulous efforts to educate the rest of us about the many failures of theology. - David Mills

Whether this is true or not is to be seen, but I'd like to think so. He's refering to the forthcoming Prometheus Books edition titled, Why I Became an Atheist: A Former Preacher Rejects Christianity. This book is not yet out. When it'll come out I cannot say, but I'm told there is already a six week delay in the publishing process. In the meantime my self-published book, Why I Rejected Christianity: A Former Apologist Explains, is readily available if you'd like to take a look at it before then. It contains the same arguments.

To see a summation of my argument read this.

David Mills joins the many others who are recommending it, who can be seen listed here.

David was the first openly avowed atheist to go into space and experience Zero Gravity! To see a funny slideshow about this historic event (and his humorous self-promotional ways) see this!

GB, don't even think about it. It is what it is.

Its not a top book now.

Why would shuffling the content, again, make that much difference?

As a self-published book it isn't in any stores, for one, just on Amazon. Some people don't think much of self-published books since they are a dime a dozen, for two. When Prometheus Books publishes a book they immediately send out 300 copies to the major media outlets around the globe for reviews, for three. When this book is laid into their laps there will be a slew of recommendations on the back cover and on the inside pages which will make them sit up and take notice, for four. And once they do read it I think they will see that it presents a powerful argument, even if they disagree, which will lead them to write about it, for five.

Anyway, this is all to be seen. I'm just hoping David is right.

John,

Is the Prometheus version the same as the self-published version? If I did a YouTube video on the self published version, can I say it safely represents what is coming up?

Thanks,

Paul

Paul, good to hear from you again. The Prometheus edition is a much revised one. There has been a six week delay in the publication of it.

But is the conclusion you came up with, at least in the edition I have, still the same.

You know, "everything came from nothing, for nothing, by nothing".

And if it is not the same, that is understandable, because they is no way you could know that, even if true.

Andrew, I was quoting Quentin Smith's view. You mischaracterize my position. I don't know how we got here, and I doubt you have my book at all. What is the third word on page 137.

Emanuel Goldstein said...

No mischaracterization, and its not a quote in the 2006 version.

"This absurdity has itself become for me an argument that this universe came about by chance, from nothing, by nothing, for nothing." Quoting John Loftus.

And by the way, the third word on page 137 is "Luke".

Well Andrew, if I said that rather than quoting Smith like I do on page 71 of my book, then I may have quoted him so much that I made his argument mine inadvertantly. The truth is "I don't know how we got here." Please quote that from now on, since that's what I truly think. And while I don't know exactly how we got here, I do affirm that God did not create us.

Good job Jo... oh... never mind...

John, the quote is directly from your book.

And you did not give credit to Quentin Smith for it.

So I will be quoting what you said in the book.

Nope, on page 71 I said "Atheist philosopher Quentin Smith...claims..." And then later I put that same phrase in quotes on page 262 referring back to Smith.

It doesn't matter. At least I'm in the same company as Dr. Smith.
