Technical note: is anyone other than me having trouble getting all of the posts to expand when they click "read more"?

Yeah I am as well. I was really looking forward to Lee's post about the people claiming to be regenerating limbs and seeing people rise from the dead on a common basis...

Yeah, we're having some problems. It seems as though Blogger upgraded their wigets and this is our problem. We're working on it.

I thought Dawkins eschewed public debate with Christians? Has he changed his position? Or has the lure of debating a guy with three PhDs (!!!) just too tempting to avoid?

I bet it will be a good one.

If you click on the topic it will bring the whole post up.

Kudos to Dawkins for accepting a debate sponsored by Moody! I'm looking forward to listening when the audio is up.

Click on the post title instead of "read more". That worked for me.

Lennox uses Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot because he knows that atheists do not defend genocide.

Christians though claim that genocide is perfectly acceptable, because some people are 'termites'

Termites

'While they accuse Christians of being the ones who are unable to see nuances in positions, a total disregard of the reasoning that the destruction of entire groupings of people may be morally acceptable when taking all factors into account shows a lack of careful thought that it is appalling.'

Stephen: I hope everyone does click on your link. It is a truly horrifying argument. "Money quote":

"While they accuse Christians of being the ones who are unable to see nuances in positions, a total disregard of the reasoning that the destruction of entire groupings of people may be morally acceptable when taking all factors into account shows a lack of careful thought that it is appalling."
(emphasis mine.)

I used to smugly argue as much before I realized that the Bible is full of sanctioned genocide itself. Christians have no soapbox to stand on when it comes to speaking out against mass human extermination. There's these embarrassing stories in the Old Testament to contend with. Human life is of little more value than dust to Yahweh.

That Christiancadre link is seriously disturbing. How can anyone living in the twenty-first century condone genocide?

To use one of my old stock phrases, Holy Mother of God!! How can such thinking (Christiancadre) be justified? How can human beings relate other groups of human beings to termites? Perhaps this is what they mean in churches when they talk of members' "spiritual maturity", that is, the ability to rationalize any damned thing to keep a foolish and superstitious belief system.

BTW, looking forward to the debate. Dawkins has always struck me a such a gentleman -- let's see how it all works out in this type of format :}

I'm an avid fan of R.Dawkins, I've read quite a lot of his books & am currently halfway through reading his TGD, which i find extremely fascinating indeed. Regards to this debate, i'm looking forward to it; whenever get the chance to listen &/or watch R.Dawkins always fascinates me, particularly when he's discussing the ,Pros & cons' about religion!?
