As C. S. Lewis says in Mere Christianity,There is no need to be worried by . . . people who try to make the Christian hope of 'Heaven' ridiculous . . . . [I]f they do not understand books written for grown-ups, they should not talk about them. All the scriptural imagery . . . is, of course, a merely symbolical attempt to express the inexpressible. . . . People who take these symbols literally might as well think that when Christ told us to be like doves, He meat that we were to lay eggs.
True Don Jr. but consider what this eventually does to the Christian faith....The Achilles Heel of Christianity
One obvious connection between the sky and heaven is the word used for those ideas in langauges.English- Sky=The HeavensOld English- Wolcen= heaven/skySpanish/Italian- cielo= heaven/skyPortuguese- céu= heaven/skyFrench- ciel= heaven/skyHebrew- shamayim= heaven/skyThis is just a sample. It seems very common that those two ideas have the same word in many langauges.
